THE CHALLENGE


Our client needed a storybook that could pull kids away from their screens.


GloFish® wanted a sequel to the successful "Gloria GloFish® and the Aquarium of Smiles" storybook we produced for GloFish® Aquarium Kits. However, instead of a straightforward story with Gloria and friends, we wanted to add new layers of activity for readers to enjoy.

Inspired by the interactive possibilities of UV ink, we crafted and illustrated "Gloria GloFish® and the Great Dragon." In the story, Gloria and friends search for hidden clues that only the reader's UV flashlight pen (included with the book) can reveal. The pen also let readers write their own secret messages inside. We even added 3D glasses into the mix so the storybook's bright illustrations would jump right off the page. The storybook is available in specially marked GloFish® Aquarium Kits in pet retailers nationwide.

Our brilliant little tale won a shiny award!

"Gloria GloFish® and the Great Dragon" received The Standard Group’s Excellence in Communication award in October 2018 for combining strategic concept and colorful illustrations with innovative printing.
